World Cup Travel Guide: Best U.S. Cities to catch a World Cup Match

June 4, 2026 - Hotels - by Austin Fido

From June 11 to July 19, 2026, the Men's Soccer World Cup takes over North America. Canada, Mexico, and the USA are joint hosts for the planet's biggest international sports tournament. In the USA, there will be games at 11 stadiums around the country. As fans look increasingly urgently for last-minute hotel deals, some will inevitably find themselves in stadiums and cities they've never visited before.

If you're unfamiliar with the USA's soccer cities or are looking for the ideal destination for a last-minute soccer-watching trip, this guide recommends four of the very best US cities to catch a World Cup match.

World Cup City guide: Atlanta

Atlanta

Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Scheduled Games (All times local)

12:00 PM, June 15: Spain vs Cape Verde (Group H)

12:00 PM, June 18: South Africa vs Czechia (Group A)

12:00 PM, June 21: Spain vs Saudi Arabia (Group H)

6:00 PM, June 24: Morocco vs Haiti (Group C)

7:30 PM, June 27: Uzbekistan vs DR Congo (Group K)

12:00 PM, July 1: Round of 32 — Winner Group L vs 3rd Group E/H/I/J/K

12:00 PM, July 7: Round of 16 Match

3:00 PM, July 15: Semifinal Match

Atlanta is one of the USA's premier soccer cities. The local MLS side, Atlanta United, routinely sells out its home games and tops the league's overall attendance tables. The state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium is close to several of Atlanta's best hotels and is well served by the city's public transportation.

For the 2026 World Cup, the Benz is one of the busier sites, hosting a total of eight games. Spain plays two of its group-stage games in Atlanta, so expect to see more than a few fans of La Roja in the ATL this summer. The winner of Group L is guaranteed to play its first knock-out round match at the Benz — fans of England, Croatia, Ghana, or Panama will be anxiously monitoring Atlanta hotel deals if the group stage tilts in favor of their team.

World Cup Cities: Los Angeles

Los Angeles

SoFi Stadium

Scheduled Games (All times local)

6:00 PM, June 12: USA vs Paraguay (Group D)

6:00 PM, June 15: New Zealand vs Iran (Group G)

12:00 PM, June 18: Switzerland vs Bosnia & Herzegovina (Group B)

12:00 PM, June 21: Belgium vs Iran (Group G)

7:00 PM, June 25: USA vs Turkey (Group D)

12:00 PM, June 28: Round of 32 Match

12:00 PM, July 2: Round of 32 Match

12:00 PM, July 10: Quarterfinal Match

Spain fans are likely already scanning for the best Los Angeles hotel deals, since SoFi Stadium will host the winner of Group H in the round of 32, and La Roja is the clear favorite to win that group. But LA hotels should be busy with traveling fans of the home team for much of the first week of the tournament: Team USA plays two group games at SoFi.

Expect high energy at the LA matches, especially if Mexico or Canada (or both) join the party on June 28 for a round-of-32 match between the second-placed teams in Groups A (Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, and Czechia) and B (Canada, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland).

World Cup City guide: Miami

Miami

Hard Rock Stadium

Scheduled Games (All times local)

6:00 PM, June 15: Uruguay vs Saudi Arabia (Group H)

6:00 PM, June 21: Uruguay vs Cape Verde (Group H)

6:00 PM, June 24: Brazil vs Scotland (Group C)

7:30 PM, June 27: Portugal vs Colombia (Group K)

6:00 PM, July 3: Round of 32 Match

5:00 PM, July 11: Quarterfinal Match

5:00 PM, July 18: Match for Third Place

There's a strong South American flavor to the World Cup in Miami — Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay (twice) will all feature at Hard Rock Stadium in the group stage. The top team in Group J will play its first knockout game in Miami, which means that Argentina fans should also be hunting for the hottest Miami hotel deals.

The Hard Rock sits more or less between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in the suburb of Miami Gardens, giving fans the option of staying in local South Florida hotels spread across both cities.

World Cup City guide: Seattle

Seattle

Lumen Field

Scheduled Games (All times local)

12:00 PM, June 15: Belgium vs Egypt (Group G)

12:00 PM, June 19: USA vs Australia (Group D)

12:00 PM, June 24: Qatar vs Bosnia & Herzegovina (Group B)

8:00 PM, June 26: Egypt vs Iran (Group G)

1:00 PM, July 1: Round of 32 Match

5:00 PM, July 6: Round of 16 Match

Expect Seattle's famously passionate soccer-loving citizens to be out in force for the USA's group stage game against Australia on June 19. Egypt plays twice at Lumen Field in the group stage, and fans of the Pharaohs will hope they're still looking for Seattle hotel deals on July 1, when the winner of Group G (Belgium, Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand) plays a round-of-32 match at Lumen.

Lumen Field is about a 20-minute walk from Seattle's downtown core, close to several Emerald City hotels.
