The results are in: offering complimentary WiFi ranks as the most important amenity for guests when choosing a hotel, according to a recent study from Hotels.com. For 38% of travelers, the provision of free WiFi is instrumental in their decision to book a hotel, while 35% of respondents simply stated that free WiFi is the amenity they’d like to see more in hotels. Another 31% of hotel guests hope that free WiFi becomes a standard offering for all hotels.

According to the survey, another 45% of travelers ranked happy hours, wine tastings, or any other complimentary food and beverages as their next favorite amenities, while extraneous luxuries such as turndown service and bath menus were deemed “not worth the hype,” according to 44% of female respondents and 30% of male respondents.
